Kompass™ — See How Your Shop Stacks Up
Compare your shop's numbers against anonymized industry averages — average job value, throughput, collection speed, and more — so you know whether your numbers are healthy.
What Kompass™ does
You can track your own numbers all day, but without context you don't know if a 38% margin or a 22-day collection cycle is good or a problem. Kompass™ compares your shop against anonymized averages from other shops so you can finally tell. It's about perspective — knowing whether to celebrate a number or fix it.
What gets benchmarked
Kompass™ compares the metrics that actually move a shop's profit and health, including: • Average job value versus the industry median • Jobs per month compared to similar-sized shops • Revenue growth rate • Invoice collection speed (how fast you get paid) • Customer retention Your numbers sit right next to the benchmark so the comparison is immediate.
Where to find it
The benchmarking view surfaces on your dashboard and refreshes on a regular cadence as new aggregated data comes in. There's nothing to configure — as your shop logs jobs, invoices, and payments in Kontrol, your side of the comparison populates automatically.
Make it a monthly ritual: check one metric you're proud of and one you're not. Benchmarks turn a vague 'business feels slow' into a specific 'our collection speed is well behind similar shops' — which you can actually act on.
Is my data private?
Yes. Every benchmark is anonymized and aggregated across many shops — no individual shop's data is ever shown to anyone else, and yours isn't shown to them either. You see the averages and where you land against them, nothing that identifies another business.
Turning benchmarks into decisions
Benchmarks are a starting point, not a verdict. A below-average job value might be fine if you run high volume; a slow collection cycle almost always deserves attention. Use the comparison to decide where to dig deeper — then pair it with your own analytics and cost reports to make the change.
